After the following verbs you can use the - ing form or to + infinitive, but the meaning changes
:
remember, forget, try, stop, regret.

I remember him saying he felt sick.
(= He said he felt sick and I remember this.)

I remembered to call him.
(= I remembered, then I called.)

You've forgotten asking for my help,
(= You asked for my help, then you forgot.)

I forgot to tell you what I'd done.
(= I didn't tell you because I forgot.)

He had even tried working on weekends.
(= as an experiment.)

He had tried to study for about eight hours a day.
(= He made an effort to do so.)

I stopped feeling so generous.
(= I was feeling generous, then I stopped.)

He stopped to get some gas.
(= He stopped in order to get some gas.)

I now regret being so stingy.
(= I regret something I have already done.)
